Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will receive the Caspian Energy Integration Award’s 2006 International Elite Platinum Prize on Aug. 8 in Ankara.

Erdogan was nominated Reformer of the Year for his part in Turkey’s integration with the European Union, said Caspian Integration Business Club (CIBC) President Telman Aliyev.

The prize is determined by a CIBC survey conducted in 30 countries among upper and mid-level managers of 1,500 companies operating in the Caspian-Black Sea and Baltic regions.

The survey was held between July 15 and Dec. 15, 2005 among members of the CIBC and the readers of Caspian Energy International Publishing House (IPH) publications.

The Caspian Energy Integration Award annual international prize was founded by the CIBC and the IPH in 2002. The first presentation of the award took place on July 2, 2005.

The award is presented to political and public figures of Caspian-Black Sea and Baltic regional countries. The late Azerbaijani President Haydar Aliyev, Kazak President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Haydar Aliyev Fund President Mehriban Alieva have all received grand prix awards over the years.

The CIBC is a dynamically developing organization uniting more than 200 companies and organizations from 30 countries operating or planning to operate in the Caspian and Black Sea region.

The CIBC was established in June 2002 with support from the largest oil and gas companies and the active participation of the Caspian Energy IPH.

The primary objective of the CIBC is to create conditions on the informational level to work out a common program on such issues as economics, politics, customs, taxes, environmental protection, etc., to implement various informational projects of regional significance and to support dialogue between government institutions and the private sector.
